Sri Lanka Telecom Ltd.

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) founded in 1991, is one of the Sri Lanka's most valuable blue chip companies. The two main shareholders of Sri Lanka Telecom as at year end were the government of Sri Lanka which held 52% through the Secretary to the Treasury and related institutions, and Global Telecommunication Holdings N.V. of Netherlands, which owned a 44.98% stake. The balance shares are publicly traded. The SLT Group has a customer base of over five and a half million including multinational corporations, large and small corporate, retail and domestic customers. SLT provides facilities and services in the areas of voice, data, video and mobile to its customers.

Lalith De Silva
Lalith De Silva joined SLT as the new Group Chief Executive Officer with effect from 7th February 2013. De Silva’s position as the Group CEO will see him overlooking the SLT Group Companies excluding Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd. A veteran in IT & Telecommunications,Lalith De Silva has held the position of CEO of Mobitel (Pvt) Limited since 2011 and has also functioned as Director/CEO of Mobitel subsequent to Mobitel’s acquisition by SLT in 2002. He also as served as an Advisor to the Chairman of SLT from 2002 to 2004 and thus possesses a deep knowledge of the group’s operations.
