Arrangements for Media coverage of WSIS Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony of WSIS will be held in the Plenary Hall on 16 November 2005 from 10h00 to 11h00.

Overpasses are available for 170 written Press and 30 Analysts to be seated in a special enclosure.

As space is limited, media pools will be organized for visual Media. Audiovisual media will be accommodated on risers in the Plenary Hall.

Overpasses and Pool passes will be available at the Media Centre. The Pools will be formed at 08h45 in the Media Centre and depart at 09h15.

The Plenary Hall will be open for Media from 09h20 and all Media are expected to take their position or be seated by 09h45. Entrance for Media will not be permitted in the Plenary Hall after 09h45.

It is imperative that Media abide by instructions of the Media Liaison Officers and of UN Security and Protocol officials.

The Opening Ceremony will be filmed by Television and webcast. Photos will also be available from the website to all accredited media here.

Sign-up for Media Pools

Advance sign-up for media pools is strongly recommended to ensure a place. Depending on the demand, national media may be limited and priority will be given to the crew and photographer that will have been designated as “official crew” and “official photographer”.

A form to sign-up is available here. Please complete the form online, print it and fax it to +41 22 730 6927. Confirmation of receipt will be sent by email but the exact pool composition will be confirmed on site. Please contact the Media Pools Coordinator at the Media Centre for more details.
