The year 2010 marks the halfway point between the successful conclusion of the WSIS in 2005 and 2015, the year by which world leaders committed to achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and WSIS targets.

The Opening Ceremony will consist of a release of a written message to the 2010 WSIS Forum by H.E. Ban Ki Moon, Secretary-General, United Nations and an inauguration by panellists representing the Governments, Private Sector, Civil Society and International Organizations:
