Subject/title: Request routing protocol for content delivery
Status: [Carried to next study period]
Approval process: AAP
Type of work item: Recommendation
Version: New

Liaison: ITU-T SG13

Summary: This Recommendation specifies signalling requirements and protocols for request routing by describing the relevant gap analysis of the existing protocols, emerging challenges and their impacts, new capabilities, and operational procedures. The capabilities of request routing are identified and defined by considering chunk-based content delivery, application-layer traffic optimization, name-based request routing, and in-network content caching, whose principles are content-awareness and context-awareness as defined in [ITU-T Y.sun-cdf] and [ITU-T Y.sun-context], respectively.
Comment: Relations to ITU-T Recommendations or to other standards (approved or under development): - Y.sun-content (Framework of content awareness for Smart Ubiquitous Networks) - Y.sun-context (Framework of context awareness for Smart Ubiquitous Networks) - Y.sun-cdf (Functional architecture of content delivery in smart ubiquitous networks) - Y.dsn-series document of ITU-T Q12/13 (Use cases, Requirement, Architecture, and its Functional architectures of DSN)
