تصف التوصية ITU-T L.84 حلاً سريعاً لرسم خرائط الشبكات الممتدة تحت سطح الأرض، اللازمة لتخطيط تنفيذ الأعمال باستعمال تقنيات الخنادق الحديثة أو الحفر، ولاستمثال المسار، وبالتالي تفادي مخاطر إلحاق الضرر بكل من البنية التحتية القائمة ومعدات الحفر. وتقدم هذه التوصية توجيهات بشأن المتطلبات العامة لهذا الحل وبيانات خرائط المرافق العامة.
