Call for Contributions to the public consultation on the ITU Strategic plan for 2020-2023
The 2017 Session of the ITU Council initiated the process for the elaboration of the draft Strategic plan for the Union for 2020-2023, by establishing the Council Working Group for Strategic and Financial plans for 2020-2023. The group held its inaugural meeting on 23 May 2017, at the ITU Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and decided to hold a first public and open consultation on the strategic priorities of the Union.
The Council Working Group is mandated to develop a coordinated draft of this strategic plan. To do this well, it is vitally important to consider everyone’s opinions, ideas and proposals on where ITU should prioritize its efforts in this era.
You are therefore kindly invited to provide your input and contributions to this consultation on the key strategic priorities for the Union, the key technological trends to be considered, the main challenges, as well as the achievements you would like to see being accomplished by the ITU in the 2020-2023 timeframe.
Please submit your contributions to the consultation through the box at the right of this page or by email to the ITU Secretariat at strategy@itu.int. The closing date for content submission is on July 7, 2017.
The CWG-SFP is committed to conduct an open, transparent and inclusive process for the elaboration of ITU’s strategic and financial plans for 2020-2023. The open public consultations will gather the views of all stakeholders, and the CWG-SFP will thoroughly discuss these inputs in its physical meetings in Geneva. We expect to establish a truly multi-stakeholder vision for the role of the ITU in the 2020-2023 period, to help bring everyone online, to ensure that the global communications infrastructure runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible, and to enable everybody to access the benefits of ICTs.

The Questions which compose this Public Consultation by the CWG-SFP are:
1. What should be the key strategic priorities for ITU for the 2020-2023 period, taking into account the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals?
2. What are the key technological trends ITU should consider while planning its strategy?
3. What do you consider to be the top three challenges for the ITU and the top three achievements you would like to see the ITU accomplish in the 2020-2023 timeframe?
4. Any other thoughts or comments you would like to make?
