Executive summary of the Working Party 3/5 meeting (Geneva, 8-12 October 2012)

2. Results related to Recommendations and other publications

One new Recommendation ITU-T L.1001 External universal power adapter solutions for stationary information and communication technology devices (L.CPS stationary) was consented and a Handbook on energy efficiency for telecommunication equipment was approved.

Comments received for Recommendation ITU-T L.1310 Energy efficiency metrics and measurement for telecommunication equipment (ex. L.M&M) during the Last Call (LC) period were resolved and its Additional Review (AR) text was submitted.

3. JCA on ICT&CC

The eleventh meeting of JCA on ICT&CC was held on 11 October 2012 under the Chairmanship of Mr. Ahmed Zeddam (Convener) and Mr. Dave Faulkner (Co-convener). The meeting was face to face but some delegates participated remotely. The meeting received inputs from other organizations such as United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), University of Manchester, ETSI Equipment Engineering (EE), Focus Group on Disaster Relief Systems, Network Resilience and Recovery (FG-DR&NRR), Energy COnsumption NETworks (ECONET)and IEC TC111. The report of the meeting will be posted on the web page of the JCA. The next meeting of the JCA will take place in February 2013 during the next meeting of ITU-T Study Group 5.

 
4. Future meetings

 

4.1 Q18/5 on Methodology of environmental impact assessment of ICT

To progress the Q18/5 work, the following e-meetings were proposed:

  • 3 December 2012, from 12:00 – 14:00 h (CET) will be dedicated to L.ICT projects.
  • 10 December 2012, from 13:00 - 15:00 h (CET) will be dedicated to L.ICT in cities.
  • 19 December 2012, from 12:00 - 14:00 h (CET) will be dedicated to L.ICT projects.
  • An e-meeting will be held in early December 2012 to prepare for the New Question

4.2 Q19/5 on Power feeding systems

To progress the Q19/5 work, e-meetings will be held in October 2012, November 2012, December 2012 and January 2013 as required.

4.3  Q21/5 on Environmental protection and recycling of ICT equipment/facilities

To progress the Q21/5 work, e-meetings will be held in November 2012, December 2012 and January 2013 as required.

4.4   Q23/5 on Using ICTs to enable countries to adapt to climate change

To progress the Q23/5 work, e-meetings will be held as follows:

  • 7 November 2012 from 12:00-13:30 (CET)
  • 17 December 2012 
  • 10 January 2013

4.5 Joint meeting with ETSI EE

An ETSI EE and an ITU-T SG5 Rapporteur Meeting of Q17/5, Q18/5, Q19/5, Q21/5, Q22/5, Q23/5 is planned for 27-31 May 2013 in Sophia Antipolis, France.
 

4.6 Next meeting of Study Group 5

The next meeting of Study Group 5 will be held from 29 January – 7 February 2013 in Geneva.
