Working Groups Statements of Scope

WG 1 – Smart Cable Television requirements and use cases (Coordinator: Satoshi Miyaji)
WG 1 is responsible for high-level requirements per the FG Terms of Reference and use cases that have relevancy to the context of Smart Cable Television. WG 1 is intended to be more associated with the service provision point of view vs deployed or future equipment point of view, where the study and discussion should not be affected by the availability of realization technologies.

The study results of WG 1 will precede the work of other WGs and will contribute - to a large degree but not necessarily exclusively - the objectives that other technical WGs (WG 2 through WG 5) will develop and/or discover technical solutions to satisfy the terms of reference requirements.

The identified outputs of WG 1 are: WG 1 will also define FG/WGs relationships to other bodies identified in output number 3.
WG 2 – Advanced Transport Technology, including IoT/M2M (Coordinator: Gale Lightfoot)
WG 2 is responsible for developing responses to the Terms of Reference and input from WG1 for transport technology needed to support Smart Cable TV.

The identified outputs of WG 2 are:
WG 3 – Content and application delivery including security (Coordinator: Han-Seung Koo)

WG 3 is responsible for addressing content and application delivery including security issues that are identified by WG 1 within the scope of FG SmartCable. Content and application delivery via hybrid networks and their linkage information is also a responsibility of this WG.

The identified outputs of WG 3 are:

WG 4 – User interface and accessibility (Coordinator: Pradipta Biswas)
WG4 is tasked with addressing user interface issues for Smart Cable TV services that are discovered by WG1 and providing possible solutions for development and adoption as eventual Recommendations under SG9’s auspices. The identified outputs of WG 4 are:
WG 5 – Multi screen and mobile devices (Coordinator: Jingfei Cui)
WG 5 is tasked with multi-screen and mobile device related issues that are identified by WG 1 within the scope of FG SmartCable and provides possible solutions for future consideration as Recommendations in SG 9.

The identified outputs of WG 5 are:
