Joan Garcia-Haro (M’91) received the M.Sc and Ph.D degrees in telecommunication engineering from the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain, in 1989 and 1995, respectively.
He is currently a Professor with the Universidad Politecnica de Cartagena (UPCT). He is author or co-author of more than 70 journal papers mainly in the fields of switching, wireless networking and performance evaluation.
Prof. Garcia-Haro served as Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Global Communications Newsletter, included in the IEEE Communications Magazine, from April 2002 to December 2004. He has been Technical Editor of the same magazine from March 2001 to December 2011. He also received an Honorable Mention for the IEEE Communications Society Best Tutorial paper Award (1995). He has been a visiting scholar at Queen’s University at Kingston, Canada (1991-1992) and at Cornell University, Ithaca, USA (2010-2011).
