Within the framework of the ITU Regional Initiative for Europe and upon request by the Member States countries ITU facilitates the launches of the national campaigns on Child Online Protection in order to strengthen national capacities in field of confidence and security in use of ICTs in particular by youth and young people. ITU Guidelines for Children as well as the Guidelines for Parents and Educators are used as the foundation for the national campaigns.
On 14 October 2016 in Rome, the National Campaign on Child Online Protection and Italian Version of the ITU Guidelines for Children as well as ITU Guidelines for Parents and Educators were launched at the European edition of the MakerFair in Rome. The Activity has been implemented thanks to the partnership with Italian Post, Italian Police, Global Cybersecurity Center, Swiss Academy. In addition a national exhibition on the COP has been presented.
