Cybersecurity

The Cybersecurity is one of the five regional initiatives which came out of the Arab regional preparatory meeting conducted in Damascus, 2010 and became part of the Hyderabad Action Plan (HAP) as per resolutions 17 & 32 of WTDC-10 and Resolutions 135 of the Plenipotentiary Conference (Guadalajara, 2010).

The initiative has an objective: To enhance coordination in building confidence in the use of ICTs within the Arab region.

It has also the following expected results:
  1. Coordination for the formulation of national and regional regulatory policies and frameworks to combat cybercrime in the Arab region.
  2. Encouragement for the establishment of national CIRTs in the Arab region, and optimal coordination between them
  3. Support to CIRTs in the Arab region through the provision of expertise and studies in this field
  4. Ensuring the protection of Arab children and youth from harmful and abusive content on the Internet.
The Child online protection (COP) is one of the main issues addressed at ITU Global Cybersecurity Agenda (GCA).  This agenda is being implemented in coordination with IMPACT.  There are several publications about COP, that can be found in the link http://www.itu.int/osg/csd/cybersecurity/gca/cop/
