WTDC-14

​ITU's sixth World Telecommunication Development Conference took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 30 March to 10 April 2014 at the kind invitation of the United Arab Emirates.

GSR14

​Under the overarching theme of “Capitalizing on the potential of the digital world“, the 14th Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR) will take place in Manama, Bahrain from 3 to 5 June 2014. It will be preceded by one day of pre-events on 2nd June 2014.

Youth Employment

Digital solutions have an important role to play in national strategies to overcome youth unemployment, says a new ITU report, entitled Digital Opportunities: Innovative ICT Solutions for Youth Employment.

4th Generation Regulation

​Highlighting the theme 4th Generation Regulation: Driving Digital Communications Ahead, a new ITU report explores the policy and regulatory issues coming to the fore as the ICT sector accelerates into a broadband ecosystem of evolving applications and services.

 

 
 
Contributing to the creation of enabling regulatory and market environments, the efficient development technologies and networks, effective spectrum management and transition to digital broadcasting, and new ICT applications, promoting Digital Inclusion of people with special needs, undertaking capacity building activities, strengthening cybersecurity, helping develop emergency telecommunication networks and boosting ICT’s input to climate change monitoring and mitigation, and implementing projects in all these areas. All this work is supported by the production of authoritative statistics and indicators.
 
ITU's Telecommunication Development Bureau is also promoting two important initiatives, the m-Powering Development and the Smart Sustainable Development Model.
