Cyberdrill for Arab Region, 17-19 May 2015, Hurghada, Egypt​​​​

 

​​International Telecommunication Union (ITU),​ ITU Arab Regional Cybersecurity Center (ITU-ARCC) and International Multilateral Partnership Against Cyber Threats (IMPACT) are organizing regional Cyber drill ALERT (Applied Learning for Emergency Response Teams) third edition for Arab region, the cyber drill exposes participants from the national Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) to various scenarios based on case studies and real-life situations, which provides them with an opportunity to test their skills and knowledge in responding to such attacks.

The event will take place from 17th -19th May 2015 in Hurghada-Egypt, at the kind invitation of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) Egypt.

The first day of the Regional Forum is dedicated to series of workshops to be conducted by experts from ITU-ARCC, ITU, IMPACT and industry partners such as ABI Research, Bitdefender, Nuix, Intellium and Silensec. The cyber drill will follow through on the second and third day.​

In line with the collaboration between ITU and FIRST, FIRST is pleased to support applications for FIRST membership from participants of ITU cyber drill exercises. See flyer for more information.​

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Regarding our invitation letters related to the Regional Cyber Drill ALERT (Applied Learning for Emergency Response Teams), Third edition for Arab Region, Hurghada-Egypt, 17-19 May 2015 and the Capacity Building Programme on Critical National Infrastructure Protection, Hurghada-Egypt, 20-21 May 2015, kindly note that the venue of the two events has been changed to be Sheraton Soma Bay Hotel, Hurghada – Egypt.

Purpose

​The exercise aims to enhance readiness and capabilities of regional CERTs to better respond to cyber threats as well as to strengthen regional networking, communication, and cooperation procedures for a successful and continuous collaboration. With this in mind, the drill is structured around various scenarios involving the most common types of cyber-attacks whilst the workshop provides a platform for cooperation, information sharing, and discussions on cybersecurity.
