Cyberdrill for Arab Region, 17-19 May 2015, Hurghada, Egypt​​​​

 

 
​​International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and ITU Arab Regional Cybersecurity Center (ITU-ARCC) organized regional Cyber drill ALERT (Applied Learning for Emergency Response Teams) third edition for Arab region, the cyber drill exposes participants from the national Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) to various scenarios based on case studies and real-life situations, which provided them with an opportunity to test their skills and knowledge in responding to such attacks.

 
The event took place from 17th -19th May 2015 in Hurghada-Egypt, at the kind invitation of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) Egypt.

 
The first day of the Regional Forum was dedicated to series of workshops to be conducted by experts from ITU-ARCC, ITU, IMPACT and industry partners such as ABI Research, Bitdefender, Nuix, Intellium and Silensec. The cyber drill followed through on the second and third day.​

In line with the collaboration between ITU and FIRST, FIRST was pleased to support applications for FIRST membership from participants of ITU cyber drill exercises. See flyer for more information.​


Purpose

​The exercise aimed to enhance readiness and capabilities of regional CERTs to better respond to cyber threats as well as to strengthen regional networking, communication, and cooperation procedures for a successful and continuous collaboration. With this in mind, the drill was structured around various scenarios involving the most common types of cyber-attacks whilst the workshop provides a platform for cooperation, information sharing, and discussions on cybersecurity.
