MEMBERS OF THE ADVISORY BOARD FOR THE NETWORK OF WOMEN FOR WTDC (NoW4WTDC)

The NoW4WTDC Advisory Board​, comprising members from all the six ITU regions, is established to provide strategic guidance to the BDT Director in order to ensure success of the network. The Mentorship Programme

The mentorship programme was opened at the TDAG-21 meeting, May 28, 2021. In this edition, the focus was on the WTDC topics and processes. This programme covered all events in preparation for WTDC, and continued afterward during the WTDC.

NoWforWTDC fireside discussions

The six fireside discussions (once a month) gave participants the chance to get inspiration from ITU’s work, kn​ow the processes and learn from other delegates as well as role models. Each fireside discussion was organized in coordination with the ITU Regional Offices to ensure members were engaged in shaping the discussion and programme.

NETWORK OF WOMEN (NoW)

The Network of Women (NoW) encourages gender balance in the activities leading up to the World Telecommunication Development Conference, WTDC.​


 

OBJECTIVES​

  1. build, in the medium and long term, a community where female delegates support each other, expand their network, advocate and share experience and knowledge;
  2. promote the active participation of women in the activities of ITU and the sector in general;
  3. give visibility to women and empower them for larger responsibilities in their respective delegations, at WTDC​ and in future similar platforms;
  4. encourage experienced female delegates to mentor ICT professionals in order to create a stronger base for women in the digital space.

Highlights

  • Wednesday 15 June 2022, from 07h30 - 09h00 CAT - Women's Breakfast, Lemigo Hotel, 7 mins walk from the Kigali Convention Centre, by Invitation only.
  • Sunday, 12 June 2022, from 07h30 – 11h00 CAT - Walk2Connect, 7 km walkathon, from the BK Arena to Kigali Heights and back to BK Arena, open to all delegates. See the Route map and the ​transport s​ch​edule for the Walkathon.​
    • Walk2Connect was held jointly with the Kigali Car-Free Day and provided a perfect opportunity for delegates to mingle with the local community in the walkathon and to raise the awareness for a gender-responsive conference. More »​
