Summary

Recommendation ITU-T G.9961 belongs to the family of ITU-T G.996x Recommendations. Recommendation ITU-T G.9961 specifies the data link layer (DLL) for wireline-based home networking transceivers capable of operating over premises wiring including inside telephone wiring, coaxial cable, and power-line wiring. It complements the system architecture and physical (PHY) layer specification in Recommendation ITU-T G.9960, and the power spectral density (PSD) specification in Recommendation ITU-T G.9964.

Amendment 1 included a new way of generating LPDUs, a piggybacked acknowledgement mechanism and an alternative method for flow establishment.

Amendment 2 included support for compression of BAT and BMAT messages, and support for indicating PSD capabilities of a node.

Corrigendum 3 included corrections to the LCMP messages in clause 8.22.3 and the NDIM interference report indication in clause 8.14.9.12.

Corrigendum 4 included:

–           Revision of the text of clause 8.6.1.1.4.1, Registration request message (ADM_NodeRegistrRequest.req).

–           Revision of the text of clause 8.8.5, Auxiliary information field.

–           Revision of the text of clause 8.8.5.15, Additional domain information sub-field.

Amendment 3 includes the addition of new capabilities to the Layer 2 configuration and management protocol (LCMP) and to the neighbouring domain interference mitigation (NDIM) mechanism. It also provides alignment of this Recommendation to new Recommendation ITU-T G.9978 on secure admission in G.hn-based networks.
