CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT OF ITU ELECTED OFFICIALS

 

The Council,

in view of

the provisions of Resolution 46 adopted by the Plenipotentiary Conference (Kyoto, 1994),

having considered

the report by the Secretary-General on the measures taken within the common system as a result of the decision of the General Assembly of the United Nations at its 51st session in regard to conditions of employment,

approves

the following salaries with effect from 1 January 1997 for ITU elected officials.

* The amounts indicated under maximum allowable educational expenses shall also constitute the "maximum education grant" under Regulation II.3, part H (Special education grant for disabled children).

Regulation II.4 Dependency allowances

3 An elected official shall be entitled to receive annual non-pensionable dependency allowances of:

a) US $ 1 510 per year for each dependent child, or the amount established in local currency as provided in Annex V to these Regulations. The allowance shall not be paid, however, in respect of the first dependent child if the elected official has no dependent spouse, in which case the elected official shall be entitled to the dependency rate of staff assessment under Annex III to these Regulations:

b) US $ 3 020 for each disabled child. However, if the staff member has no dependent spouse and is entitled to the dependency rate of staff assessment under Annex III to these Regulations in respect of a disabled child, the allowance shall be reduced to $ 1 400 for that child;

c) US $ 540 a year as a single allowance for a person who is not directly dependant where there is no dependent spouse.
