a) to facilitate inputs from membership on the ITU implementation of relevant
WSIS outcomes through its regular meetings and circular letters, questionnaires
or other appropriate methods of query;
b) to monitor and evaluate on a yearly basis the actions taken by ITU with
respect to implementation of WSIS outcomes;
c) to provide guidance to the membership regarding the actions to be
performed by ITU in the implementation of WSIS outcomes, especially with respect
to implementation of WSIS action lines C2 (Information and communication
infrastructure) and C5 (Building confidence and security in the use of ICTs)
where ITU is a facilitator, and ITU’s role with regard to international public
policy issues pertaining to the Internet and the management of Internet
resources, including domain names and addresses, per Resolution 102 (Rev.
Antalya, 2006);
d) to provide the membership with proposals for ITU in taking an active role
in the implementation of action lines C1, C3, C4, C6, C7, C8, C11 and other WSIS
outcomes related to ITU’s mandate within the financial limits set by the
Plenipotentiary Conference; e) to provide guidance to ITU on the future
activities of the ITU for the successful implementation of action lines C1, C2,
C3, C4, C5, C6, C7, C8, C11 and other WSIS outcomes related to ITU’s mandate
within the financial limits set by the Plenipotentiary Conference;
f) to develop proposals for Council’s consideration, in liaison with other
Council Working Groups that may be necessary for adapting ITU to its role in
building the information society, with the assistance of the WSIS Task Force
whereby these proposals may include changes in the Constitution and Convention
of the Union;
g) to consider and discuss the activities of the Secretary-General and
Directors of the Bureaux in relation to the implementation of Resolution 102
(Rev. Antalya, 2006);
h) to prepare ITU inputs into the activities mentioned in Resolution 102
(Rev. Antalya, 2006) with the assistance of the Secretary-General and Directors
of the Bureaux, as well as the WSIS Task Force as appropriate;
i) to review the preparations of ITU for the review of the progress achieved
in relation to the WSIS goals in 2015 and to prepare a roadmap for WSIS
implementation up to 2015 within its core competencies.
