Eleventh Meeting - ITU Headquarters, Geneva, 13-14 June 2007

The eleventh meeting of the WG-WSIS was held in Room H, in Geneva, Switzerland starting at 14h30 on 13 June and finishing on 14 June 2007 under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr Vladimir Minkin (Russian Federation) with Mr. Frederick Riehl (Switzerland) and Mr. Ridha Guellouz (Tunisia) as vice-chairmen.

The work of WG-WSIS is guided by Resolution 140 but the Group was also invited to consider and discuss the different activities of the ITU Secretary-General and Bureaux in relation to the implementation of Resolution 102.

In this regard, PP-06 endorsed the relevant work already undertaken and/or to be carried out by ITU in implementing the WSIS outcomes, under the aegis of the Council Working Group on WSIS (WG-WSIS), requesting the Council to maintain the WG-WSIS in order to:

  • facilitate membership input and guidance on the ITU implementation of relevant WSIS outcomes and

  • to elaborate proposals to the Council that may be necessary for adapting ITU to its role in building the information society. (Res. 140)

Please note that the eleventh meeting of WG-WSIS was conducted in English only.
