Accommodation

Geneva offers Switzerland’s most extensive range of hotels. Over 450 million Swiss francs (280 million Euros or 300 million US dollars) are being invested during the 2000-2010 period to provide even better value for money. The Geneva authorities have secured 80% of hotel rooms in the area with preferential rates with special conditions such as no minimum stay. To restrict intermediaries and over-booking practices, we have established a booking system with a central reservations service appointed by the government. For greatest flexibility, register your request soonest. All room requests can be made through MCI group by email at: telecomhousing@mci-group.com or by phone at +41 (0)22 339 9570.

Visa and Entry Formalities

Visitors to Switzerland are subject to Schengen regulations for entry and stay authorizations. For individuals requiring a visa, Switzerland will issue Schengen visas for a stay up to three months that are valid for the entire Schengen area. Please note that persons not required to hold visas previously may now be subject to visa requirements under the Schengen regulations – we recommend you make the necessary arrangements well in advance of your departure. Detailed information on whether you need a visa, and instructions on how to apply, is available on the Swiss Federal Office for Migration website at the following address: www.bfm.admin.ch/bfm/en/home/themen/einreise/merkblatt_einreise.htm.

Following registration, you can use this form to generate a letter of invitation.

Tourism & Partner Programme

The Geneva Tourism and Convention Bureau is generously offering a number of touristic programmes free of charge for participants, partners and family. Registered participants are eligible for a limited number of spaces on various tours available on a first-come, first-served basis. Information is available both onsite during the event, and from Geneva Tourism and Convention Bureau's information centre downtown at 18 Rue de Mont-Blanc. Tours have been made available exclusively for ITU TELECOM WORLD 2009 participants and vouchers must be arranged onsite at the Geneva Tourism and Convention Bureau information desk onsite of Geneva-Palexpo.

A full range of paid touristic offers can be arranged directly with the Geneva Tourism and Convention Bureau.

Transportation

Swiss International Airlines

As the official airline for WORLD 2009, Swiss International Airlines is offering all participants special congress fares which represent reductions up to 25%, depending on the fare type, route and space availability. Congress fares are valid for all flights to Switzerland on the entire SWISS network, including flights operated by partner airlines under the LX flight number.

To take advantage of this offer, book easily and conveniently through www.swiss.com/event. You will need to enter your email address and the following event code: 4104 2877 4996 3725. These special fares are now bookable for the travel period 14 days prior and 14 days after ITU TELECOM WORLD 2009. The special SWISS congress fare is marked with a "C"; it may not necessarily be the lowest fare but it offers flexibility in the event of rebooking or cancellation. SWISS looks forward to pampering you on board with typical Swiss hospitality!
