APPLYING FOR MEDIA ACCREDITATION |
Journalists who have already accredited for an ITU event taking place in 2006 need only complete the boxed section of the Media Accreditation Form (if contact details remain unaltered). Proof of press credentials is not required.
Journalists who have not been accredited with us this year are requested to complete the entire Form and return it with*:
plus, any one of the following documents:
a photocopy of their national/international press card valid through to the end of the Event;
a recent copy of the page of the publication which provides the names of regular editorial staff and
contributors and which lists the journalist seeking accreditation.
We reserve the right to request supplementary documentary evidence which may
include copies of recently (within the last 6 months) published articles / tapes
of broadcast programmes where
the journalist is credited.
Journalists invited by exhibitors should note that the Media Accreditation Form still needs to be completed and submitted along with the required credentials*.
*Credentials (URLs, PDF files, etc.) can be
added as an attachment to the form.

| ELIGIBILITY FOR MEDIA ACCREDITATION |
Media accreditation may be granted only to the
editorial staff of publications/news wire services, press photographers
and TV/radio crews representing a recognized media organization that is:
-
newspapers/magazines - available to the general public, published at least 6 times a year
by an organization whose principle business activity is publishing, and which generally carries paid advertising;
-
online 'publications'- generating a substantial amount
of original news content and which belongs to a registered media company with a
verifiable non-web address plus telephone number;
news wire services - providing news coverage to
subscribers, inc. newspapers, periodicals and/or televisions;
broadcast - broadcasting news and information
programmes to the general public either through satellite or terrestrial means.
More detailed information concerning accreditation and access for broadcast crews and photographers can be found here.
Without a letter of assignment from a broadcast station, we cannot accredit personnel from film and video production companies as journalists.
Personnel from such companies may register as
visitors or Delegates and must have all filming requests pre-authorized by
Negar Takesh, Marketing Officer, ITU TELECOM.
Technical staff not part of a broadcast crew,
all other non-editorial staff working for a media organization (i.e. management,
marketing and advertising executives, etc.), researchers, authors and editors of
directories cannot be granted media credentials. Please register as a
visitor to attend this Event or as a
Delegate to also attend the Forum.

COLLECTING MEDIA ACCREDITATION |
Applications for media accreditation are
considered on a case-by-case basis and the decisions of the ITU Press Office are
final. Applicants will be notified when their documents have been accepted.
To collect your badge, a valid passport (or the
Hong Kong permanent identity card (PIC)) must be presented. Badges can be collected from the on-site Media Centre as of
Friday, 1 December 2006.
We strongly recommend you register prior to the Event in order to avoid unnecessary delays in receiving your
Media badge or in gaining full access to the venue. Please
take special note that anyone registering on-site as a journalist must comply
with the above procedure (ie letter of assignment plus additional media credentials and valid photo id).
Any queries concerning the media accreditation process should be directed to our ITU
TELECOM Media Relations Service.
