The
ITU has long provided the leading platform
for debate on critical issues within the
world of information and communication
technologies (ICTs). Today, this sector is
more important than ever for the global
economy and major challenges lie ahead.
The Forum at ITU TELECOM
WORLD
2003 will provide a chance to reflect on
the successes and excesses of the past
four years, and to plan a more stable and
profitable future.THE WORLD 2003 FORUM

morning, and parallel domains each
afternoon:

THE
FORUM WILL ALSO INCLUDE A
TELECOMMUNICATION DEVELOPMENT SYMPOSIUM
(TDS) AND A YOUTH FORUM.
The
TDS brings together senior officials from
the least developed and lowest income
countries from around the world to review
development plans and discuss issues of
immediate importance to their countries.
Topics for discussion include opening up
the regulatory process to consumer inputs,
Internet for all and e-learning.
The Youth Forum, introduced first at ITU TELECOM
AFRICA
2001, is now being held for the first time
at ITU TELECOM
WORLD.
Students from all 189 ITU Member States
have been invited to take part in an
essay-writing competition with the prize
of an expenses-paid trip to participate in
the Forum at ITU TELECOM
WORLD.
These young people may provide future
leaders in the ICT field. The main
discussion topics will be Technology,
Policy and Regulation, Entrepreneurship,
and the contribution of young people to
the upcoming World Summit on the
Information Society.
In
addition, for the first time, ITU TELECOM
is introducing a series of Showcase
Presentations which will provide an
opportunity for companies to demonstrate
their products and services to a large
audience. The Showcase Presentations are
open to all visitors free-of-charge. A
detailed programme is available on-site at
