ITU-T is organizing a one day Forum on "Implementation of decisions of
the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-08)" in
Quito, Ecuador on 7 July 2009. This forum will be hosted by Centro Internacional de Investigación Científica en Telecomunicaciones, Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones (CITIC) at Hilton Colon Quito Hotel, Amazonas N 1914 y Avenida Patria 1, Quito, Ecuador.
The Forum on "Implementation of decisions of ITU-T World
Telecommunication Standardization Assembly-08 (WTSA-08)" will provide an
opportunity to highlight and discuss activities undertaken by ITU-T to
implement Resolutions approved at WTSA-08.
The forum will bring together leading representatives from governments,
regulators, industry, academia, operators and service providers in the
Americas region. A key purpose of the event is to raise awareness of
Resolutions addressing issues relevant to developing countries for example
Resolutions 17 and 44.
Resolutions in which the TSB Director is requested to submit reports on
proposals and studies to ITU Council-09, for example for Resolution 74 on a reduced
membership fee for sector members from developing countries, Resolution 71 on the
admission of Academia in the studies of ITU-T and Resolution 76 on conformity and
interoperability testing will also be under discussion.
Sessions will additionally focus on hot topics in ITU-T Study groups such as
IPTV, IPV6 deployment, migration to NGN, climate change, accessibility,
security, ICTs and climate change. And, there will be opportunities to
identify future standardization and development requirements for ITU.
