Security Vulnerabilities in Protocols

Abstract

Recent research and events show that many key communications protocols are inadequately designed, implemented, and deployed with respect to security, e.g., DNS, BGP, SNMP, SS7, SIP, etc. In this talk we review some of these problems and propose guidelines that will avoid or mitigate security issues in new and modified protocol standards.
