Present status and future trends of the narrowband and broadband Internets and
IP-based satellite services in the Asia-Pacific region are overviewed. Digital
broadcasting satellite services by CS, BS and collocated 110deg.-CS are being
operated in Japan. Planned geostationary multimedia satellites, NSS-6 will be
launched soon and iPSTAR late next year. Furthermore, recent research and
development projects, Quasi-Zenith Satellite Systems, WINDS, and ETS-VIII are
being proceeded in Japan. The latest satellite launch industry will get a lot
tougher competition. |
