Session 6 - Role of satellite in reducing the Digital Divide

Satellite are already used to deliver TV and radio content as well as connecting voice and date services. All
contents are being digitised, resulting in additional opportunities for satellite to provide essential services
to developing countries: of course digital radio and TV but also mobile network extension and connection to the
Internet backbone, as well as access to IP services and potentially Voice over IP for Small and Medium Enterprises.
