Abstract
"Activities related to IMT-2000 taking place in the ITU-D Sector"

This Presentation will deal with the topics under study in the ITU-Telecommunication Development Sector with reference to the relevant outputs of the most recent World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) held in Istanbul, 18-27 March 2002. Reference will be made to Resolution 43 (“Assistance in Implementing IMT-2000”), to the new ITU-D Question 18/2 (“Strategy for migration of mobile networks to IMT-2000 and beyond”), and to related activities concerning the promotion of and access to IMT-2000 technologies and systems to the ITU Member States, especially in the "developing" Countries. The Structure and the Work Plan of the Mid Term Guidelines under preparation in Question 18/2 will be also dealt with.
