Session 7-I: In-Vehicle devices and Human Machine Interface (including Voice Interface)
Title of Presentation: Mobile Device Integration - Opportunities and Risks

Thomas Moder is responsible for Product Management covering the product range of handsfree, phone and telematics solutions within TEMIC SDS, a subsidiary of Harman/Becker Automotive Systems. He started his career in 1996 at DaimlerChrysler as a development engineer for speech recognition engines and knows very well the challenges for a speech dialog system in challanging environments such as the car or other mobile applications.

Between 1999 and 2002 he worked at TEMIC SDS as sales manager responsible for server based speech dialog systems in the European market. In that context he gained also experience with the plans of several automotive companies to set up voice portals. With the rising number of customers deploying handsfree systems developed at TEMIC SDS he moved to the product management department where he is responsible for the product roadmap of handsfree, telephony and telematics solutions. In this context he discusses Bluetooth connectivity issues with leading phone manufacturers and car companies.
