Title of Presentation: Cooperative Communication Systems

Knut Evensen received his M.Sc. qualifications in Telematics from the Norwegian Institute of Technology. After his studies, he worked at the Norwegian Institute of Technology at the Institute of Telecommunications.

In 1986 Knut Evensen took an R&D engineering position at Micro Design, where he managed projects such as networked ship-ship communications, implementation of a commercial mobile Inmarsat Earth Station and several similar communications projects.. 

In 1989 Knut Evensen became involved in the DRIVE programme, and has since been involved in several ITS communication projects such as SMART, ADEPT, GAUDI, CONCERT, INTERPORT, VASCO, TRON, LERTS, INITIATIVE, STAR, DELTA and EVI.
In 1991 Knut Evensen was selected for the expert team that did the original programming and partitioning of the ITS standardisation in Europe, where his responsibility was the communications aspects. This lead up to the work programme of CEN TC278 RTTT, and later formed the basis for the agreement with ISO TC204 ITS. He is involved as editor and convenor in a number of standardisation committees and working groups in ETSI, CEN, ISO and IEEE. Of relevance to this context, he is the convenor of the CALM Architecture subgroup and editor of the CALM M5 WLAN standard.
Knut Evensen is currently employed by Q-Free in Norway as a section manager with responsibilities for standardisation and international R&D activities.
