Title of Presentation: Vehicles and Telecommunication – EMC Standards and Regulations

The increase of electronic equipment has been one of the last years major change in modern vehicles. The main reason is to provide to the customers new functions both for security and comfort improvment. Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) has been taken into account for many years in vehicle development both for immunity and emission through international standardization (ISO and CISPR) and internal vehicle manufacturer specifications.

The new challenge is now to extend these vehicle evolutions to the telecommunication area, introducing more customer's services and links between the vehicle and its environmment (radio reception, phone services, navigation, driver's information…). Because telecommunication and vehicle equipments can be both sources of disturbances and potential victims, EMC becomes more and more an essential concern to succeed on this way to a successfull synergy.

This presentation adresses the main links between vehicle and telecommunication areas in the EMC standardization and regulation domains.
