Name: IHE TFS DSG (2009)
Title: IHE IT Infrastructure (ITI), Technical Framework Supplement: Document Digital Signature 2009-2010.Trial Implementation Supplement.

Approved for trial implementation August 10th, 2009.
3. Justification for the specific reference:
The Continua Design Guidelines uses/generates the IHE Technical Framework for use with both its Health Reporting Network (HRN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) interfaces. This document defines specific implementations of established standards to achieve integration goals that promote appropriate sharing of medical information to support optimal patient care.

This specification was approved as a draft for trial implementation on August 10th, 2009 and is in-force.
6. The degree of stability or maturity of the document:
The IHE initiative is both a process and a forum for encouraging integration efforts. It defines a technical framework for the implementation of established information exchange standards to achieve specific clinical goals. It includes a rigorous testing process for the implementation of this framework. And, both the IHE and Continua organize educational sessions and exhibits at major meetings of medical professionals to demonstrate the benefits of each of their frameworks encouraging its adoption by industry and users.

This document defines a coordinated set of transactions based on ASTM, DICOM, HL7, IETF, ISO, OASIS and W3C standards. Continua has further constrained it for both the WAN and HRN interfaces.
