Installations d'accès utilisant des réseaux hybrides optiques/métalliques

La présente Recommandation contient des informations et des directives sur les installations d'accès utilisant des réseaux [hybrides optiques/métalliques (HFC, hybrid fibre/copper)].Les réseaux HFC devront permettre l'introduction de services multimédias avec plusieurs applications à large bande. Les réseaux HFC sont en effet les mieux placés car ce sont les seuls réseaux utilisables à la fois pour les télécommunications et la télévision par câble (CATV, cable television). D'autres applications ou services (télévision payante, télévision à péage, vidéo à la demande, banque à domicile, télétravail, téléachat, accès à Internet, etc.) peuvent être assurés sur ces réseaux.Les réseaux HFC sont également une étape du processus d'évolution vers l'infrastructure mondiale de l'information (GII, global information infrastructure), qui sous-tend l'interconnexion des réseaux de CATV, des réseaux de télécommunication, des réseaux de données et des réseaux mobiles.L'Appendice II contient des exemples de réseaux HFC.
