The registration deadline for ITUís ICT Innovation Application Challenge has been extended from 22 January 2013 to 12 February 2013.
Launched in November 2012, the Challenge aims to promote sustainable, equitable economic growth in emerging economies by unearthing apps targeting the social and economic inclusion of traditionally underserved communities.
Winning apps will be those that improve the quality of life experienced by citizens of developing countries, especially for communities at the financial or geographic margins of society. Suggested areas of focus include mobile health, mobile money, e-learning, e-government and intelligent transport systems.
The best app submitted by an individual or small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) will be awarded USD 5,000, courtesy of Nokia Siemens Networks. Winners will receive their awards at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum in Geneva, 13-17 May 2013.
Register here as a Challenge entrant, by 12 February 2013.
