The program calculates the radiation patterns and gain for the following types of antennas used by Administrations and broadcasters for HF broadcasting:

  1. Curtain antenna, half-wave dipole array, multi band, centre-fed, aperiodic reflector;
  2. Curtain antenna, half-wave dipole array, dual band, centre-fed, tuned dipole reflector;
  3. Curtain antenna, half-wave dipole array, dual band, end-fed, tuned dipole reflector;
  4. Curtain antenna, half-wave dipole array, dual band, centre-fed, no reflector;
  5. Tropical antenna, half-wave dipole array, centre-fed, no reflector;
  6. Horizontal log-periodic;
  7. Vertical log-periodic;
  8. Rhombic antennas;
  9. Quadrant antennas;
  10. Cross dipole antennas;
  11. Vertical monopoles

The theoretical approach used for the calculations is explained in details in Recommendation ITU-R BS.705-1, titled “HF transmitting and receiving antennas characteristics and diagrams.”

The real performance of antennas encountered in practice will deviate to a certain extent from their analytically calculated characteristics.  The above recommendation also gives information about this deviation on the basis of the results of a comprehensive sets of measurements carried out by various administrations using modern techniques.

Three-digit reference codes (100-999) are used for common used antenna to provide quick reference for administrations and broadcasters in identifying antennas during their HF schedule coordination.

  • The program includes option for English, French and Spanish.

  • Hardware requirements: IBM PC compatible.

  • Software requirements: Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP.

  • Distribution media: A single installation file can be downloaded from the ITU web site.
