SEMINAR VENUE A Space Regulatory Workshop of ITU will be held at The Grand Ashok Hotel in Bangalore, India from 25 to 29 June 2007, hosted by Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Bangalore on behalf of the Indian Administration.
REGISTRATION Registration will be conducted on Monday 25th June 2007 between 08:00 to 09:00 hours.
SCHEDULE The official opening of Space Regulatory Workshop will be on Monday 25th June 2007 a 09:00 hours. The Sessions of the program will start everyday at 09:00 Hrs. and end at 17:00 Hrs. Lunch break will be between 12:00 to 13:30 Hrs.
THE BANGALORE CITY Bangalore city is located In the southern region of India with a population of 6.1 million people and is well known as the IT capital of India. It is also a popular tourist town, specifically during the months October to February. Its geographical location at about 900 meter above sea level makes the climate very pleasant. CLIMATE The climate of Bangalore is moderate and pleasant. Summers (April-June) are mild and winters (October-February) are cool. The city experiences southwestern monsoon rains in June-August.
TIME Bangalore follows Indian Standard Time (IST) which is 5:30 Hrs. ahead of GMT.
LANGUAGE The local language in Bangalore Is Kannada. However, English is widely spoken.
ACCOMMODATIONS The Grand Ashok hotel being the venue, the hotel has assured availability of about 40 rooms on first come first basis for the benefits of delegates who wish to stay in the same hotel. However, the delegates are free to stay in any hotel of choice in Bangalore. The following are few other hotels which are not far away from the venue of the workshop. TRAVEL Bangalore has many direct international flights and good connections from major gateway cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Chennal.
VISA Most foreign nationals require a Visa for entry into India.
INDIAN CURRENCY Indian currency is Rupees and Palse. $US1=Rs.41 - approximately. In general, there are no restrictions on currency exchange in India and possibilities to change major convertible currencies are available.
CREDIT CARDS Major credit cards are accepted In most places.
