An Information Exchange Meeting on Satellite Network Coordination and Notification Processes was held at ITU headquarters in Geneva on Friday 21 January 2000 immediately following the meeting of the Radiocommunication Advisory Group (RAG) which was held from 17- 20 January. This meeting was, in part, a result of Decision 483 of ITU Council 1999 that addressed «Improving the Satellite Network Notification Process».
The purpose of the meeting was to provide information on the current processes involved in satellite network filings and to encourage an open discussion on ways to address any problems in these processes, in particular, to encourage consideration of ways in which the handling of the increasing backlog of satellite network filings in the Radiocommunication Bureau may be addressed. Such consideration should also take into account Resolution 86 (Minneapolis 1998) that will be considered by the forthcoming World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-2000) to be held in Istanbul, Turkey (8 May to 2 June 2000). |
