ITU Seminar “New Technologies and Their Impact on Regulation”

 

Yerevan (Tsakhkadzor), Armenia, 14 – 16 December 2010


At the kind invitation of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Armenia, the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is organizing the seminar "New Technologies and Their Impact on Regulation". The seminar will be held from 14 to 16  December 2010 in Yerevan (Tsakhkadzor), Republic of Armenia.

The main aims of this seminar are:

  • To consider the results of deployment of new technologies on international and regional levels, trends of their further development and impact on regulatory system; requirement to adapt existing methods of regulation in order to enable modernization of networks and services;
  • To consider regulatory problems entailed by deployment of new technologies, their impact on licensing; regulation in the area of frequency spectrum use and numeration resources, calculation of tariffs, regulation of network interconnection, universal service and identification of regulatory tools to resolve these problems;
  • To consider best practices of regulation of NGN-based networks and services on international, regional and national levels and share knowledge and information on introduction of these regulatory practices.

The seminar is opened to all ITU Members States, including national policy-makers, regulators as well as Sectors Members and Associates from CIS regions wishing to contribute to the work. Individuals belonging to international, regional or national organizations may also participate. The Academia and all associated and related Institutions are all welcome.

The seminar will be carried out in Russian.

Any presentation and contribution to be discussed during the Seminar will be highly appreciated and should be notified electronically to the attention of Mr Andrei Untila, ITU Area Office for CIS (e-mail: andrei.untila@itu.int) and Ms Violetta Aghajanyan, Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Armenia (e-mail violet.aghajanyan@gmail.com) no later than 30 November  2010.
