Funding requests are evaluated by the Telecom Surplus Fund Programme Steering Committee  

The Telecom Surplus Programme Steering Committee

The Steering Committee comprises:

  • Chairman: The ITU Secretary-General, assisted by the Executive Manager of TELECOM

  • Members: The Deputy Secretary-General, the Director of BDT

  • Secretary: The Programme Administrator

Role of the Steering Committee

The Steering Committee is the supreme governing body of the TELECOM Surplus Funds Programme. It meets regularly to:

  • Approve the projects submitted by the Programme Administrator.

  • Modify a project's objectives while it is under way at the request of the beneficiary.

  • Allocate resources from TELECOM surpluses to the TELECOM Surplus Funds Programme Fund.

  • Allocate funds from the TELECOM Surplus Funds Programme Fund to a project that qualifies for the Programme.

  • Monitor the execution of projects under the TELECOM Surplus Funds Programme.
