Session 1: Spectrum management: theory and practice; automation and engineering tools

Session Chairman: (Head, Regional Office for AFR, ITU)

Objectives: This session will provide information on ITU-D activities including the ones conducted by the Regional Office for AFR, to help in spectrum management activities in developing countries. This session will also discuss the need of spectrum management and spectrum management policies and strategies and gives information on spectrum engineering tools and linking automatic spectrum management and monitoring systems. Discussion will focus on:

Session 2: Ensuring access to the spectrum, spectrum management processes; future trends / techniques in spectrum management

Objectives: This session will provide an overview of spectrum management processes and the access to the spectrum. Challenges on the trends and new technologies in spectrum management will be discussed, too. This session specifically addresses:

Objectives: This session will focus on the challenges on spectrum management for different services that the policy makers and regulators face while considering introduction of new services. Also the ways and opportunities of the spectrum sharing among the users/services will be discussed. Presentations on countries’ experiences of the Region will be held. Emphasis will be on:
