Subject: Eleventh meeting of the Telecommunication Development Advisory Group, Geneva, 12-16 December 2005

Dear Sir / Madam,

I have pleasure in inviting you to participate in the forthcoming meeting of the Telecommunication Development Advisory Group (TDAG) to be held from 12 to 16 December 2005 at ITU Headquarters in Geneva. The meeting will begin at 09:30 hours in room C.

This meeting has a particular importance this year as it will immediately follow the World Summit on Information Society (Tunis, 16-18 November) and will be the ultimate preparatory gathering before the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2006.

The TDAG agenda will address key topics such as the results of the six Regional Preparatory Meetings for WTDC-06 which will be reviewed and summed up by a Coordination meeting to be held in parallel (Geneva, 12 December 2005). The TDAG will also review the implementation of the Istanbul Action Plan in 2005 and the draft four-year rolling plan (2007-2010) that should guide the BDT in the development of its activities and programmes which are pertinent to support the global and regional initiatives decided by ITU Members.

A draft agenda is attached in Annex 1.

I have the pleasure to inform you that for the first time for the TDAG we will proceed with on-line registration. You will find all relevant information in Annex 2.
Contributions should be submitted no later than 5 November 2005, using the following TDAG e-mail address: tdag@itu.int. The time necessary to translate contributions will not allow us to secure translation for documents received after the above-mentioned date.

Working documents will be posted as soon as they become available on the ITU-D website at URL:
http://www.itu.int/ITU-D/TDAG/Index.html

It is intended to encourage the participation of the least developed and developing countries in the work of the TDAG, within the existing budgetary constraints. To that end, one fellowship per eligible country will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis. I would be grateful if you could complete the request form in Annex 3 and return it to the Fellowship Service no later than 11 November 2005.

I firmly believe that your active participation will make this meeting a success, and trust that, as in the past, I will be able to benefit from your advice and recommendations, which are so valuable to BDT’s activities.

I look forward to seeing you in Geneva.

Yours faithfully,
Hamadoun I. Touré
Director
