| Youth Education Scheme Project |
Project
Description
Following the WTDC-02 which established the Youth Initiative, BDT seeks
appropriate means in order to integrate youth issues into its activities
with emphasis on capacity building. The Youth Education Scheme (YES) is a
scholarship project targeting to assist, promote and support needy and
deserving young people to complete their tertiary education in
telecommunication or-related fields. This scholarship project is created for
young future leaders from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and developing
countries who would be unable to complete their studies without financial
support. "Youth", with their competencies in ICTs, can contribute
substantially to the challenges facing us in achieving social and economic
development.

Social Impact & Benefits
ITU considers "Youth" as a vital partner and a critical resource to ensure
the future of the telecommunication industry. The Youth Programme launched
by ITU intends to make a difference not only to the future of young people
involved in ICTs in the developing world, but also to the social and
economic development of their communities as well as to the
Telecommunication Sector a whole.
