(Study Period 2010-2014)
User Guide to
synchronize documents
The ITU-D SG1 and 2 Sync Application* allows you
to synchronize Study Groups 1 and 2 documents** from the ITU server to your
local drive. It has been configured to access the ITU server in Geneva and
synchronize on demand to the latest published documents.
*The ITU Sync Application
works in Windows® 2000/XP/2003/Vista/7.
**SG1 and 2 and related Rapporteur's Group Meeting published documents consist
of: Agenda, Contributions, Temporary Documents, Information Documents and
Reports.
Step
1: Installing the ITU-D SG1 and 2 Sync Application from the web
|
1.
Download the ITU-D SG1 and 2 Sync Application
(SG1-2-setup.exe) from
here.
2.
Once the
“SG1-2-setup.exe” has been downloaded, execute and follow the instructions on
your screen. This is a Windows setup program that installs the ITU-D SG1 and 2
menu and sync program to [Drive]:\ITU\ITU-D SG1-2 2011-03\. It creates an ITU-D
SG1-2 program group and shortcut on your desktop.
Notes:
·
After the installation, run “Synchronize
Documents” in order to download ITU-D SG1 and 2 published documents to your
local disk.
·
Do not move the installed program to another
folder nor change the settings in “Allway Sync’n‘Go”, otherwise the application
will not work properly.
·
The Sync Application only installs the user
interface and sync program.
Step
2: Synchronizing (downloading) ITU-D SG1 and 2 documents
|
1.
Starting up the ITU-D SG1-2 Menu
·
Click Start>All Programs>ITU-D SG1-2 (2011-03)>Launch ITU-D SG1-2 Menu.

2.
Synchronizing ITU-D SG1-2 documents
After the installation, run
“Synchronize Documents” in order to download the latest collection of ITU‑D SG1
and 2 published documents to your local disc. An Internet connection is
required.
·
There’s an option to synchronize both Study Groups 1 and 2 documents or you may
select a particular Study Group. Once selected, the synchronization will begin.

Notes:
·
Synchronization is required the first time
you use the application. It may take several minutes to download all published
documents.
·
Synchronization is set to run on demand; you
may launch it at any time from the menu by clicking on the “Synchronize” button.
·
After a successful synchronization, the
“Allway Sync’n‘Go” program will disappear but if it encounters a problem, it
will remain open. If you wish to fix it, go to the troubleshooting page or
contact the ITU support team.
Step
3: Accessing ITU-D SG1 and 2 documents
|
1. Click on “Access to
Meeting Documents” to show the Contents page. This menu will give you access to
the documents even if you are not connected to the Internet.

Troubleshooting: First-time use
1.
This
window may appear the first time you use the program,. Click on the "Unblock"
button to continue. Synchronization is then launched. The application
synchronizes the USB key by adding new files or replacing modified files.

If synchronization of documents does not start
1.
Go to “Control Panel”.
2.
Run Windows Firewall.
3.
Select the “Exception” tab and enable "Display
notification when Windows Firewall blocks a program".

4.
Click the “OK” button to close.
5.
Run “Synchronize Documents” from the menu.
6.
The Windows Security Alert (see below) may appear if the Windows
Firewall is blocking the program. Click the “Unblock” button to continue. This
will probably solve the problem.

7.
Check if synchronization begins. If it doesn’t, check if other
factors, such as antivirus programs or the server, are blocking the program. One
way to check is to run the sync program outside your organization.
If you experience problems in accessing
or synchronizing documents, please contact our IT assistance and support service
by calling the Conference Helpdesk service; ext. 795426 from an ITU telephone or
+41 217 3589 from an external telephone, (Mon – Fri 9h00 – 18h00).
