300 new telecentres will work in 127 municipalities in the country. With an investment of US$ 40,000 million, the ICT Ministry, through its Communications program “Compartel”, is bringing the Internet to remote regions of the country.

The social program Compartel from the ICT Ministry will run over 300 community Internet access centers in villages and townships located in remote and difficult access areas, in order to ensure a space to the community to access to Internet, while others public or private operators come to expand the supply of telecommunications.

"For Compartel is very important provide connectivity to places that normally do not have Internet service. We want to make community ownership of these spaces and enjoy the benefits of ICT that come with the telecenters". It said Guillermo Cruz German, manager of Compartel.

These Telecenters will come to places like the Oasis in the municipality of Arauquita (Arauca), New Siviru in Bajo Baudó (Chocó), San Pedro in Puerto Caicedo (Putumayo); Puerto Nariño in Cumaribo (Vichada), and La Rocosa in San Andrés (San Andres and La Providencia).
