|Title||Global Girls in ICT Day|
Information and communication technologies (ICT) are important to every aspect of our lives, making them richer and more comfortable. There are no longer any limits to a career in the ICT sector. Jobs range from traditional engineering or programming to designing new types of mobile phones or saving the environment. However, studies show that not enough young people are choosing careers in ICTs - especially not enough young women.
This project relates to ITU Plenipotentiary Resolution 70 (Rev. Guadalajara, 2010) which calls on Member States to organize Girls in ICT days annually, every fourth Thursday in April, in order to encourage girls and young women to choose to study and work in the ICT Sector.
Under this project, Serbia and ITU aim to encourage girls and young women to choose to study and work in the ICT sector, including its expanding spectrum of ICT career options, and to provide related guidelines through the ITU Girls in ICT (www.girlsinict.org) and WITNET (witnet.org) Portals.
