Call for Sponsors!
Youth ICT Scholarships
You can help more young people from developing countries access an advanced education and skills for a career in the ICT field. Become a sponsor of ITU’s "Youth Education Scheme (YES)" scholarships.
The need is great. The number of YES scholarship
applications jumped 600% in recent years. At present, we are
only able to accept less than 10% of applicants.
Every contribution counts: $10,000 would open the doors of education to one young person; $50,000 would help five and $100,000 would change the life of at least 10 youth. For a modest investment, not only would you be helping more young people gain access to ICT training, you would also be contributing to long-term, sustainable economic development in the communities and regions where these youth apply their new skills and creativity.
The Youth Education Scheme has been a great success to date, with over 100 scholarships awarded since 2003 to young people in telecommunication/ICT and related fields, from all regions of the world. This has been possible thanks to the generosity of its many sponsors, including: ALCATEL-LUCENT (France), ANACOM (Administration of Portugal), Ministry of Communications & Information Technology through the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) of Egypt, NOKIA Corporation (Finland), Government of Spain, Thales Communications (France) and Vodafone (U.K).
ITU enjoys close collaboration with its sponsors, providing full transparency and detailed reports. These reports clearly show the disbursement of funds, which are sent directly to the universities for tuitions fees. ITU handles all administrative matters, including the call for applications and pre-selection process, and then presents sponsors with a list of proposed candidates for their approval. Sponsors may target their support for applicants from a given country or region.
