Objective
The GILF is an annual event which provides a neutral platform for ITU-D
Sector Members to share their views with policy makers and regulators on major
issues facing the ICT sector, with a particular emphasis on reducing barriers to
ICT investment in developing and least developed countries.
Programme
The GILF Programme has been designed to complement and reinforce
that of the GSR. The shared overall theme of this year’s GILF and GSR will be
“Enabling Tomorrow’s Digital World.”
This year’s GILF Programme has been organized around two main
thematic sessions: 1) Securing a Wireless Future; and, 2) Creating a “Light
Touch” Policy and Regulatory Environment, followed by a session to review
GILF-10 Recommendations. The format will favour interactive debates and panel
discussions rather than formal presentations.
ITU-D Sector Members are encouraged to
submit draft recommendations
relevant to the GILF themes. These inputs will be used to
inform session moderators of both GILF and GSR, and will be submitted for
consideration by policy-makers and regulators participating in GSR.
