TOGO TELECOM is the national public company responsible for implementing and operating telecommunications infrastructure and services in Togo. A government policy for the telecommunications sector which was published in 1996 led to the separation of postal and telecommunications services and to the formation of Togo Telecom. In 1998, the new legislation encouraged competition in the telecommunications sector, and the national telecom operator, Togo Telecom, was privatized.
