SOTELGUI (Société des Télécommunications de Guinée)
SOTELGUI was created by the decree D/92/141 of June 02, 1992 and became operational in June 1993. After a French technical assistance (FCR) of 18 months, a joint venture was carried out between the Government of Guinea (GOG) and Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TMB), a Malaysian public telecommunications operator. GOG had 40% of the shares while TMB held 60%. The 10 years joint venture ended in December 2005 upon an unilateral withdrawal of TMB. TMB did the retrocession of its shares to the GOG in August 2008. From that date 100% of SOTELGUI’s shares are held by GOG. SOTELGUI will benefit from the Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) submarine cable Project through a landing point in Guinea by end of 2012.
