International Telecommunications Users Group
The International Telecommunications Users Group (INTUG) has represented business users of communications services globally since its formation in 1974 and has participated in ITU affairs for much of the 35 years since then. It consists of national and international user groups and associate companies and is registered in the Netherlands. INTUG has participated in ITU Study Groups and Working Parties on Recommendations and Standards in areas including tariff principles and service definitions, and focuses attention on sector regulation as a mechanism for introducing open competition and interoperability internationally. INTUG has been a leading campaigner for open access to Next Generation Networks, and reducing the financial burden of non-cost related charges, for example for roaming and call termination and for mark -up on international leased lines. INTUG has recognised status within OECD, and regionally in APECTEL, CITEL and the EU. INTUG has a memorandum of understanding with the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO).
