Intelsat LLC owns and operates communication satellites. It offers fixed satellite services internationally. Intelsat serves media and communications companies, multinational corporations, Internet service providers, and government/military organizations. The company is based in Pembroke, Bermuda. In 1965, Intelsat established the first commercial global satellite communications system. In 2006, our merger with PanAmSat brought in a heritage of challengers and determined commercial entrepreneurs that made satellite communications part of our daily lives and spearheaded the creation of today's $7 billion industry.
