International Federation for Information Processing
Founded in 1960, IFIP links more than 50 national ICT societies with an aggregate membership in excess of nearly 1,000.000 individual members. It is a not-for-profit body with its headquarters in Austria. It has 13 Technical Committees bringing together 3500 global experts to address key ICT issues for today. IFIP provides a global forum of ICT experts that plays an active role in developing and sharing expertise amongst all stakeholders of the information and knowledge society. IFIP runs numerous significant conferences each year and also offers a free-to-read digital library of technical information. IFIP’s Strategic Aims are: To provide a global platform to (1) Advance technologies for the information and knowledge societies; (2) Disseminate high quality information; (3) Promote social responsibility in the application of ICT; (4) Promote Digital Equity; (5) Advance Professionalism in ICT. In order to achieve the strategic aims, its Objectives are to: (1) Be one of the leading organizers of ICT related events; (2) Be one of the leading sources of advice on ICT related issues; (3) Provide services and supporting its member societies and their members; (4) Support education and lifelong development of academics and practitioners.
